Boxing South Africa (BSA) board member Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole has denied that he double dipped when he was the regulator’s acting chief executive officer.
Sithole was responding to a question posed by Democratic Alliance (DA) member of parliament Tsepo Mhlongo during the BSA board’s appearance before parliament’s portfolio committee on sport, arts and culture on Friday.
“There’s no double dipping, especially on my part. I became a board member. I was seconded to the position of CEO. I don’t get paid a stipend. It’s just the salary of the CEO,” Sithole responded.
The BSA annual report revealed that during the 2022/23 financial year Sithole earned just over R1,6 million, which included an acting CEO allowance and other unnamed benefits.
Sithole was appointed as acting BSA CEO in January last year following Cindy Nkomo’s departure in December 2021. According to the presentation the BSA board made before the portfolio committee, Sithole’s contract as acting CEO expired last Saturday.
