Mandla Ntlanganiso is back at Boxing South Africa (BSA) and is more powerful than he was before his suspension as the regulator’s director of operations just over four months ago.
Ink Sport can reveal that the new BSA board resolved in its first meeting on Tuesday evening that Ntlanganiso’s suspension be lifted and he has since been appointed acting BSA chief executive officer.
There was a leadership vacuum at BSA after Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole’s contract as acting CEO expired on Monday. Sithole had been at the helm since January last year.
“Mandla is back after it was decided during a board meeting that his suspension should be lifted,” a source told Ink Sport.
Ntlanganiso decided against commenting when Ink Sport contacted him for a comment on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, Ntlanganiso was given a 14-day waiting period by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) after he had sought condonation following his suspension by BSA.
However, with his suspension, which violated the Labour Relations Act, having been lifted, Ntlanganiso’s case against BSA is going to fall by the wayside.
