Having reached an agreement with Kay B Promotions boss Mzi Booi over his purse, Zolisa Batyi from Eluxolweni in Nxarhuni is now focusing on continuing with his preparations for his next fight.

Batyi is scheduled to make the third defence of his South African featherweight title when he trades leather with Yamkela Phaliso from Mdantsane at the Orient Theatre in East London on Saturday, 24 August.

“I’m happy that everything is in order now and the contract issue is behind us. I’m working very hard to defend my title. Phaliso knows that he’s not gonna take my title,” Batyi said.

The two boxers were due to have fought against each other in March, but the fight didn’t go ahead due to Phaliso picking up a hand injury. Batyi ended up facing Lucky Hobyane whom he stopped in the eighth round at the Orient Theatre in March. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
