Mthatha boxer and former South African bantamweight title contender Lusizo ‘Speedfire’ Manzana is yet to undergo a shoulder operation after he was admitted at the Bedford Hospital.
The 26-year-old Manzana was due to have undergone the shoulder operation two weeks ago, but got delayed after doctors wanted to access his injury.
“Manzana went to hospital and doctors analysed his injury. He is now under observation in hospital and a decision is going to be taken on Wednesday,” All Winners Boxing Club manager Mlandeli Tengimfene revealed.
Manzana, who is trained by Thembani Gopheni in Mdantsane, has been troubled by shoulder problems for some time. The problem got worse and deprived him of an opportunity to win the SA bantamweight title during a fight against Landile Ngxeke at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in December last year. Sada-born Ngxeke stopped Manzana in the fourth round to win the then vacant national bantamweight title.
