Suspended Boxing South Africa (BSA) director of operations Mandla Ntlanganiso is yet to receive a charge sheet almost two months since he was given a letter of suspension.
Ntlanganiso got suspended on the 10th of August after a number of run-ins with BSA chiefs over how the fistic sport should be administered. Actually, a plan to kick Ntlanganiso out was set in motion way before the BSA board sent a letter asking him to state why he shouldn’t be suspended.
“I have not received a charge sheet yet. But please speak to my lawyer,” Ntlanganiso said when called by Ink Sport.
Apparently, a blunder committed by BSA’s provincial manager in the Eastern Cape Phakamile Jacobs in July was pinned on Ntlanganiso, who started working as the boxing regulatory body’s director of operations in January last year.
Jacobs’ failure to tally score cards correctly resulted in Melissa Miller being declared a winner after her fight against Sharadene Fortuin in a South African female bantamweight title contest at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) three months ago.
It then took BSA three days to change the initial outcome of the fight into a draw something which didn’t go down well with many people in the boxing fraternity.
Ink Sport spent the better part of last week trying to get a comment from Ntlanganiso’s lawyer Cyril Thabela, who was consistently unavailable because of his busy court schedule.
Meanwhile, our efforts to solicit a comment from BSA spokesperson Azwitamisi Nthangeni also hit a brick wall as he didn’t pick up his calls when Ink Sport called him.
