If there’s anyone who feared that Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga might not secure a clearance from Boxing South Africa (BSA) in order for him to be able travel to Mexico for his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title challenge against the champion Adrian Curiel Dominguez, that person must worry no more.
BSA has cleared the 25-year-old Nontshinga from East London as he’s preparing to leave for Mexico together with his trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan, his dad Thembani ‘Best’ Gopheni and Bernie Pailman this coming Sunday.
Nontshinga is scheduled to square up against the 25-year-old Dominguez in a rematch in Oaxaca, Mexico, on Friday, 16 February (early Saturday morning, South African time).
“Yes, I can confirm that we got a clearance from Boxing South Africa,” Nathan confirmed.
Nontshinga will be attempting to reclaim the IBF crown he lost to Dominguez when the Mexico City resident stopped him in the second round in Monaco in November last year.
Meanwhile, this is going to be the first time Nontshinga sets foot on Mexican soil since he defeated Mexican boxer Hector Flores Calixto by a split decision to win the IBF title in Hermosillo in September 2022.
