East London boxer Lindile Tshemese is set for a go at the title of recently-crowned South African junior-bantamweight champion Lwandile Ngxeke.
This was confirmed by Tshemese’s promoter and veteran sport administrator Kaya Majeke of KM Sports Promotions and Events Management on Tuesday.
Ngxeke from Sada won the national title after he stopped Mthatha-born boxer Athenkosi Dumezweni in the 10th round at the Sun City Superbowl in Rustenburg just over a week ago.
“The situation is that Ngxeke will defend against Tshemese in 90 days. This was agreed upon before Ngxeke met Dumezweni. The fight is going to happen even though negotiations between us and Xaba (Ayanda Matiti) have not taken place because of other commitments,” Majeke said.
Tshemese was eligible to fight for the SA title as he was rated number one. He was then asked to step aside to make way for the clash between Ngxeke and Dumezweni. Tshemese agreed to step aside on condition that the winner would defend against him.
