East London boxing trainer Khangelani Jack is not spending any sleepless nights as he’s looking forward to Eastern Cape boxer Luvuyo Mputi’s fight against Sanele Msimang in Durban on Saturday.

It’s not like Jack is undermining Msimang, it’s just that the 2023 Trainer of the Year award winner has finished preparing Mputi for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International junior-welterweight fight, which is going to be held at Durban’s APN Portuguese Hall.

“We are through with our preparations for the fight. We are just waiting to go to Durban and win the fight,” Jack, who will leave together Mputi for Durban on Thursday, said.

Mputi and Msimang were due to have fought in an African Boxing Union (ABU) bout in May, but the fight fell through. Now they get a chance to show boxing lovers who is the best between the two of them.

A win will over Inchanga-born Msimang would be a great birthday present for Mputi, who celebrated his 33rd birthday on Monday.
