The venue for the funeral service of the late Louis Smith has been changed from Cambridge Hall to Gompo Hall in East London, starting at 10am on Friday.
The change of venue was confirmed by Boxing South Africa (BSA) manager in the Eastern Cape Phakamile Jacobs on Thursday morning.
Smith, who was a glove steward, passed away aged 96 on Tuesday last week. He had been a boxing servant for more than four decades and by the time of his death, Smith had not been active in the fistic sport because of advanced age and ill-health.
Due to his dedication to the sport, Smith received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the South African Boxing Awards ceremony, which was held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban last June.
