Having come out of retirement after hanging his gloves less than a year ago, Lusanda ‘Mexican’ Komanisi is feeling good as he faces Said Chino, who was born Mohamed Hassan.

The former world champion and Chino are set to clash in a vacant IBA Intercontinental lightweight bout at the City Centre Hall in Dar-Es-Salaam on Saturday.

Both Komanisi, a former South African lightweight champion, as well as Chino made the required weight during an official weigh-in on Friday.

“I feel good. I’m excited for me and my team,” the former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion, remarked.

Komanisi, who is going to be ushered to war by Phumzile Matyhila, announced his retirement after he was stopped in the fourth round by unbeaten Kaine Fourie in November last year. Before that, Komanisi had suffered a third round stoppage loss to current lightweight titlist Khaya Busakwe in March.

On the other hand, Chino goes to the Komanisi fight on the back of a points victory over erstwhile World Boxing Association (WBA) and IBO featherweight titlist Simphiwe ‘V12’ Vetyeka in August. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
