A fight, which has been called for by many boxing followers in South Africa is close to becoming a reality as Golden Gloves managing director Rodney Berman is tying up the loose ends.

After Berman has done everything, then Beaven Sibanda and Siyakholwa Kuse will finally trade leather in a bout, which is surely going to divide the South African boxing community.

“The WBC Silver belt is vacant. For either one of them to get the Silver belt will be a major step towards the world title proper. I’ve made very good discussions with both of them. I’m very confident that I will put it together,” Berman said.

“Pound for pound, that’s the best fight that can be made in South Africa at this time. Small division, but they are two terrific fighters. This particular fight I think both fighters’ reputation would be enhanced. Both are quite deserving.”

If all goes well, this fight between Sibanda and Kuse, who is the current South African minimumweight champion, will take place on Friday, 6 December.

Harare-born Sibanda is rated 15th by the WBC while Kuse from Mdantsane is eight places above him. Sibanda has won all his seven fights with two of those wins coming from stoppages while Kuse has a professional record of seven victories with four knockouts, two losses and a draw. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
