Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni quickly dispatched Malawian boxer Israel ‘Money Machine’ Kam’mwamba in the first round during their fight at the Ingwenyama Lodge in White River, Mpumalanga, on Saturday evening.
Following the win, the 31-year-old Ndongeni won the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) junior-welterweight title.
The victory crowned a good year for Ndongeni, who won all his three fights with stoppages. He stopped another Malawian Byson Gwayani in March and Peter Pambeni from Zimbabwe in June.
KwaBhaca-born Ndongeni has stretched his record to 29 wins with 17 stoppages and two defeats while Kam’mwamba has 12 victories (eight knockouts), seven losses and a draw.
Meanwhile, Thabang Ramagole won the African Boxing Union (ABU) SADC flyweight title after he outpointed Mpho Seforo.
