There is going to be boxing action in three provinces – Free State,
Eastern Cape and Gauteng – this coming weekend.
Lebo Mahoko’s Dream Team Promotions will host a tournament in Maokeng,
Kroonstad, in the Free State while Ayanda Matiti’s Xaba Promotions
will bring fight action from the East London International Convention
Centre in the Eastern Cape. Both tournaments are going to be held on
Saturday evening.
Dream Team Promotions’ tournament is going to be headlined by a
contest between Koos Sibiya and Anthony Maloisane. Sibiya and
Maloisane will face each other in a vacant African Boxing Union (ABU)
junior-lightweight title contest over 10 rounds.
On the other hand, reigning South African junior-flyweight champion
Ntlantla Tyirha will laces up his gloves to defend his title against
Nwabisile Colani with Asanda Gingqi and Thembani Mbangatha fighting
for the vacant SA featherweight belt in East London. Both outs are
scheduled for 12 rounds.
On Sunday, action moves to Gauteng where Tshele Kometsi’s TK Boxing
Promotions will host an SA junior-middleweight title fight between
current champion Xolani Mcotheli and Prince Dlomo at the Greenhills
Stadium in Randfontein.
Sadly, no boxing fans will be allowed to any of the venues where the
three tournaments are going to be held because of the COVID-19
pandemic.
