At long last, coach Ernst Middendorp’s Maritzburg United have managed to pick up their first win of the season courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic in a DStv Premiership encounter played at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday evening.
Thabiso Kutumela scored a brace in the first half while Victor Letsoalo netted for Siwelele Samasokolara in the second stanza.
The win gave Middendorp a much-needed three points since he took over coaching the Team of Choice following Eric Tinkler’s sacking.
The KwaZulu-Natal Midlands team have collected five points – one win and two draws – from nine matches.
Meanwhile, the Team of Choice are now going to play against Kaizer Chiefs away at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Saturday, 9 January, in their next match while Phunya Sele Sele will be at home to AmaZulu at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Mangaung the following day.
