It’s an impressive run that continues to surprise some football followers as Swallows FC’s unbeaten streak remains intact following a 3-2 win over Cape Town City in a DStv Premiership match at the Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Birds, who got promoted to the Premier Division from the GladAfrica Championship at the end of last season, have now won six
matches and drawn three since this term started in October.
A Ruzaigh Gamildien brace as well as Junaid Sait’s goal were enough to give the Dube Birds maximum points while Mduduzi Mdantsane scored twice for the Citizens.
Both Gamildien, formerly with Chippa United, and Mdantsane, who once played for Baroka FC, are now on seven goals.
The second-placed Birds have collected 21 points from nine matches and are level with log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. The Brazilians have also played nine matches.
Meanwhile, Swallows were reduced to 10 men when midfielder Zephaniah Mbokoma was red carded in the 73rd minute. The same fate befell the Citizens when Tashreeq Morris was sent for an early shower on the stroke of full time.
