Real work begins for world title contender Khanyile Bulana from Scenery Park.
Bulana is going to venture into the land of spaghetti and pizza, Italy, to challenge reigning International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight champion Michael Magnesi on Saturday, 17 April in Rome.
Bulana got the chance to challenge Magnesi after his homeboy Azinga Fuzile declined the offer to fight against the Italian.
“Bulana is going to start camp now. He’s been training in East London and is now here in Johannesburg to train at altitude,” Bulana’s trainer Colin Nathan said.
“What I really like is what is going on now that the vaccine is starting to roll out. The numbers are coming down here in South Africa. The travel restrictions are going to be lifted. It just bodes well for Bulana’s preparations and the mindset every boxing South African wants to get into the ring and fight. Last year was crazy and now things are on the mend.”
Nathan, who is a chief trainer at Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg, is determined to work very to make sure that Bulana is ready for Magnesium. .
“I’m expecting a tough camp for Bulana. We are looking for him fighting for the world title and him winning that championship, too,” Nathan said.
Nathan has revealed that Ludumo Lamati and Lerato Dlamini are going to be Bulana’s sparring partners.
“I’m not being arrogant, but we’ve got world class sparring partners here,” said Nathan.
