Both Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos coaches are unanimous in that their teams dished out good football at Olen Park in Potchefstroom on Sunday.
Leopards knocked Ezenkosi out of the Nedbank Cup with a 2-1 scoreline. Ovidy Karuru scored a brace while Khethukuthula Zwane netted for Cosmos.
“It’s one of those cup games. This is what we expect in a cup match. I think it had thriller, drama, everything in it. We needed good news after a rough patch,” Leopards Lehlohonolo Seema said.
“The fighting spirit was there. However, we still have room for improvement. I’m happy we are through to the next round.”
Ezenkosi coach Jomo Sono, meanwhile, is happy with his team’s performance.
“It was a smash and grab. It’s part of the game. It’s either you are lucky or not lucky. I thought my team gave a very good account of themselves. I thought this was a beautiful game, we didn’t sit back. This experience is going to help us in the GladAfrica Championship,” Sono said.
Lidoda Duvha’s next match is an away DStv Premiership game against Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane while Cosmos will travel to King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi for a GladAfrica Championship match against Bizana Pondo Chiefs on Sunday, 14 February.
