Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt’s search for his first win over Orlando Pirates since joining Amakhosi this season finally bore fruits as Chiefs beat the Buccaneers 1-0 in a DStv Premeirship encounter at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Sunday afternoon.
Serbian-born striker Samir Nurkovic, who had been firing blanks, scored the only goal of the match, which gave Amakhosi their first win over the Buccaneers in their fourth attempt this season. Before Sunday’s clash, the Buccaneers had beaten Chiefs three times – once in the DStv Premiership and twice in the MTN8.
The win will go a long way in ensuring Chiefs’ move up the Premiership standings continues even though it’s proving a little bit tougher to crack into the top-eight.
