Temba Bavuma’s life as Proteas limited overseas captain begins as the South African national team face Pakistan in the first one day international (ODI) in Centurion at 10am on Friday.
Appointed as Proteas captain in February, Bavuma is going to bat at number three with high hopes that he will successfully lead the South African national team.
Friday’s match is the first of three one day internationals (ODIs), which are going to be spread between Centurion and Johannesburg.
“Personally, it’s to enjoy this journey, new chapter. Simply, it’s to lead the team to a couple if victories. The goal is always to contribute positively to the team’s success,” Cape Town-born Bavuma said.
Pakistan, who are coached by Misbah-ul-Haq, always offer resistance whenever they come up against the Proteas.
Meanwhile, the second ODI is going to be played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday starting at 10am.
The ODI series is going to be followed by four Twenty20 (T20) matches in Centurion and the Wanderers.
