Damien Durandt would rather concentrate on his job as trainer of current World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu than concerning himself with purse bids.
This follows after the purse bid for Makabu’s title defence against Russian boxer Aleksei Papin was postponed to Tuesday, 11 May.
“I only train him, nothing else,” Durandt said on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo-born Makabu is managed by Frenchman Tarik Saadi.
Meanwhile, this is going to be the second time Makabu faces Aleksei. Makabu defeated the Russian in a WBC Silver cruiserweight title fight in 2019.
Makabu, who bagged the WBC title following his victory over Polish boxer Michael Cieslak in January 2020, successfully defended his green belt when he stopped American-based Nigerian fighter Olanrewaju Durodola in the seventh round in the DRC last December.
