Coach Steve Barker believes that his team Stellenbosch FC have been unfortunate not to win matches after creating many goal scoring chances during their games.
They did the same when they played to a goalless draw with Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership match at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands on Tuesday afternoon.
Stellies had many opportunities, but failed to convert them with Ashley du Preez being the main culprit.
“It’s just been an unfortunate season we are having. The commitment of the players is superb. The effort is superb. We are trying our best to win football matches. It’s not through lack of commitment or trying. It doesn’t want to go into the net,” Barker said.
“We created far bigger chances in the game. We just got to keep fighting. At the end of the day, it’s a good point. It could have been three, but it was not. We just gonna continue believing in what we are doing. Our players will reap the rewards of their efforts. I’m very proud of their effort again. We just got to find ways to get that goal or two.”
Stellies are 12th on the Premiership table after winning five times, drawing 11 and losing 11. They only picked up one point in their last three matches.
