South African lightweight champion Tshifhiwa Munyai successfully defended his crown with a win over Khaya Busakwe on Friday evening.
The vastly-experienced Munyai stopped Busakwe in the eighth round in a J4Joy Promotions tournament at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
This was Busakwe’s second loss in eight fights having won the other six bouts by stoppages while Munyai stretched his record to 33 wins with 19 knockouts, six losses and a draw.
On the other hand, Innocent Mantengu defeated Luthando Mbumbulwana on points to win the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African junior-featherweight title.
Meanwhile, Layton Gloss stopped Tumelo Matsane in the sixth round in a Gauteng bantamweight title fight.
