Hot Box Gym chief trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan has suffered a setback in his hopes to be discharged from a Russian hospital.
The award-winning trainer had hoped to be discharged from hospital and fly out of Russia for his Johannesburg home.
However, it was never to be as his hopes have been dashed after tests conducted on Monday came back positive for COVID-19.
Nathan was admitted in a Russian hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month. That was before his boxer Ryno Liebenberg’s loss to Russian Fedor Chudinov in St Petersburg, Russia.
“Yesterday’s results came back positive. I did another test this morning. But I feel awesome,” Nathan said from his hospital bed.
Nathan tested positive for COVID-19 two days before Liebenberg’s fight against Chudinov. A second test came back negative raising his hopes of being in Liebenberg’s corner.
But a third test returned positive on the day of the fight something, which forced Russian health authorities to dispatch doctors and paramedics to his hotel. This was done in line with Russian health protocols.
Initially, it was thought that the Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) international adviser would spend 10 days in isolation, but it has since been more than three weeks now.
