Bafana Bafana assistant coach Helman Mkhalele and the national team’s goalkeeper coach Lucky Shiburi have been put in isolation pending confirmatory COVID-19 testing.
This follows after a round of rapid COVID-19 test and screening done at the Bafana Bafana base in Gqeberha ahead of the COSAFA Cup tournament.
“As a standard procedure with tournaments, the same also goes with this particular tournament, we had a round of rapid COVID test and screening. We did all that with the team and what then transpired subsequent to what we found with two of the personnel – head coach Helman Mkhalele and goalkeeper coach Lucky Shiburi we felt it prudent to isolate them pending confirmatory testing,” Bafana team doctor Tshepo Molobi confirmed.
Bafana open the COSAFA Cup tournament with a clash against Botswana at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday (17h00).
