Tatjana Schoenmaker is a hopeful for a first South African medal at the Tokyo Olympics underway in Japan.
This follows after the 24-year-old powered to the final of the 100 metre breaststroke at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre early on Monday morning.
Schoenmaker won the semi-final in 1:05,07 beating American hopeful Lilly King, who came second in 1:05,40. Schoenmaker and King are going to face each other again in the final at 04h17 on Tuesday morning.
