It looks like boxing followers will have to wait for something like an eternity before watching a fight between Simphiwe ‘V12’ Vetyeka and Lusanda ‘Sdubulangaye’ Komanisi.
This is so because Mncedisi Ngqumba from Boxing South Africa (BSA) insists that Vetyeka is not a BSA licensee even though the former world champion is adamant that his licence was renewed this year.
“Mr Simphiwe Vetyeka is not a licensee, however he has applied for the boxing licence. His licence application is pending board review or approval,” Ngqumba said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Vetyeka, a former World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ featherweight, International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight and bantamweight champion, told Ink Sport that he’s a BSA licensee.
“I applied this year and my application was approved a long time ago,” Vetyeka said.
Vetyeka is itching for action as he has not fought since his win over Thompson Mokwana in a vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa lightweight title fight in April 2018.
Almost a fortnight after facing Mokwana, Vetyeka broke his legs when he was hit by a car in Amalinda, East London.
