Enoch Nkwe has finally resigned as Proteas assistant coach despite Cricket South Africa (CSA) bosses begging him to stay.
Apparently, Nkwe quit after he got fed-up with systematic problems within the Proteas coaching structure.
“Cricket South Africa (CSA) regrets to announce the decision by Enoch Nkwe to leave his position as the assistant coach of the Proteas, a position he held since December 2019,” a CSA statement read on Tuesday.
“While every effort was made to retain his services, Enoch has decided to focus on personal growth and professional development. The board engaged with Enoch to explore whether there was a way to retain his services but this was unsuccessful.”
Nkwe resigned after he raised concerns about the functioning and culture of team environment.
The CSA board has promised to take steps and investigate and address the issues raised by Nkwe.
Nkwe left the Proteas as they are preparing for their tour of Sri Lanka where they are going to play six matches – three one day internationals and three Twenty20s from 2-8 September.
Meanwhile, acting CSA chief executive officer Pholetsi Moseki has been tasked with finding Nkwe’s replacement.
