Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga is not a bang broek and his trainer dad Thembani Gopheni says Felix Alvarado doesn’t scare them.
Gopheni has added that International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion Alvarado has something that ‘belongs’ to them.
“We are busy training even though no date has been set for our fight against Alvarado. Continuing with our training makes sense because we want to be more than 50 percent fit by the time the date is announced. We are planning how to go and take what Alvarado has,” Gopheni said.
Alvarado, 32, stopped Puerto Rican Israel Vazquez in the first round in a non-title fight earlier this month while Nontshinga earned the right to challenge the Nicaraguan after he outpointed Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta from the Philippines in Gqeberha in April.
The 22-year-old Nontshinga is rated number one by the IBF and seventh by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
