Njabulo Ngcobo was busy attending to personal matters back home in KwaZulu-Natal when he received one of the most important calls earlier this week.
So important was the call that the Kaizer Chiefs defender left everything and rushed to Johannesburg to join his compatriots in the Bafana Bafana camp.
Ngcobo received a call-up as cover for Mothobi Mvala, who’s struggling with a groin strain.
“We all know that you get happy to be part of Bafana Bafana. I was already home when I received the call after we got a break from Kaizer Chiefs,” Ngcobo revealed.
“Being in the national team means a lot to me. It’s also good that people believe in me as they want to see me in the national team.”
The 27-year-old Ngcobo is with Bafana Bafana in Harare, Zimbabwe, ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Warriors at the National Sports Stadium at 15h00 on Friday.
Ngcobo received a national team call-up from Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos despite struggling to break into the Amakhosi starting line-up since moving from Swallows FC.
