Royal AM snapped their winless streak by beating Chippa United 1-0 in a DStv Premiership match at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Sunday afternoon.
Bafana Bafana striker Victor Letsoalo scored the only goal of the match in the second half.
Royal AM were the better team in the first half as they launched attack after attack. However, they found Chilli Boys goalkeeper Rashid Watenga in an uncompromising mood.
The Chilli Boys’ only chance in the first stanza was a missed attempt by Maloisane Mokhele in the 24th minute.
Both sides started well in the second half and it was Royal AM who found the back of the net in the 51st minute. Letsoalo converted a penalty after Chilli Boys captain Riaan Hanamub had handled inside the box.
This was the Chilli Boys’ first loss of the season while Royal AM bagged their first three points.
The Chilli Boys won 1-0 over Sekhukhune United in their season opener and drew goalless with defending DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns in their second match.
On the other hand, Royal AM lost to Swallows FC and Cape Town City in their first two games of the campaign.
