Engaging in a South African title fight means a lot to Cape Town boxer Abdul-Aziz Kunert.
And it is for that reason that Kunert is not leaving anything to chance as he finalises his preparations for a vacant SA featherweight title contest against Asanda Gingqi from Mdantsane.
The two unbeaten boxers are going to square up against each other at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday, 26 September.
“It means a lot to me. It’s a dream come true,” Kunert, who is trained by Colin Nathan at Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg, said.
While preparing for this shootout, Kunert has been sparring with his stablemate Lerato Dlamini and he believes that the former World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver featherweight champion is a perfect choice to help him plan properly for an assault on Gingqi.
“From Lerato in comparison to Gingqi, I can say the speed, power, technique, I don’t think Gingqi has those,” Kunert said.
The 27-year-old Kunert said that he plans to hurt and then stop Gingqi.
