Rivaldo Coetzee is making winning man-of-the-match awards a habit after he won his third of the season in four matches.
The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder walked away with the award after the Brazilians smacked TS Galaxy 3-0 in a DStv Premiership match at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Sunday evening.
“I think it was a great team performance. We knew coming to the game what to expect. We needed to be more patient, especially in our build-up,” Coetzee said.
The 24-year-old Sundowns defensive midfielder from Kakamas in the Northern Cape added: “We saw in the first half they came one-on-one. So we knew one-twos and a lot of movement would give us more space. I think we did that well and also our resistance was good. We didn’t concede as many counter-attacks. It was a good team effort.”
Coetzee’s role at the Brazilians has been massive and he has played a meaningful role in ensuring that Sundowns kept clean sheets in the four matches they have played.
“We looked at our stats of last season, everything, draws, wins, losses, goals scored, goals conceded, we wanted to improve. I think last season was one of our better seasons in terms of conceding less goals. This season we want to be even stronger in that department,” Coetzee said.
