The Wallabies’ resurgence continued as they beat Argentina 27-8 in a Rugby Championship match in Townsville on Saturday afternoon.
This was the third straight win for the Wallabies, who beat the Springboks twice before meeting the Los Pumas.
Back to the game against the Los Pumas, the Argentines were awarded a penalty, which was missed by Emiliano Boffelli in the fourth minute.
A minute later, Reece Hodge crossed the try line after he was fed a pass by Quade Cooper following a nice move by Samu Kerevi. Cooper duly converted to give the Wallabies a 7-0 lead.
The Wallabies stretched their lead through Kerevi’s try in the 19th minute and Cooper converted to make it 14-0.
Boffelli registered the Los Pumas’ first points on the board when he converted a penalty in the 21st minute.
Cooper converted a penalty to make it 17-3 for the Wallabies eight minutes before half time.
The Los Pumas took the match to the Wallabies at the beginning of the second half. Julian Montoya crossed the try line in the 44th minute and Boffelli missed the conversion.
Argentina pressed hard and were awarded a penalty, which Boffelli missed in the 54th minute.
Six minutes later, second half substitute James O’Connor increased the Wallabies’ lead when he converted a penalty.
The Wallabies increased their lead through Andrew Kellaway’s try in the 70th minute. O’Connor converted for a 27-8 lead.
