Desiree Ellis didn’t worry much that l when Banyana Banyana were playing against Mozambique in a COSAFA Women’s Championship clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Monday.

The Banyana Banyana coach knew that her team were going to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. And they did as they beat Mozambique 3-1.

“We started very well. We could have been 2-0 up in the first five, 10 minutes,” Ellis said.

“When we scored we almost took our foot off the pedal, that is the time you need to take control, play to your tempo and make your opponents play to your tempo. We knew that Mozambique were gonna come at us. They didn’t give up.”

The former Banyana Banyana skipper lamented the number of chances they missed before scoring their second goal.

“We had plenty opportunities to get the second goal. Then we defended poorly, then we conceded. We then chased the game again,” she concluded.
