World champion Nonito ‘Filipino Flash’ Donaire Junior has revealed that they are about to conclude negotiations for his title defence against his compatriot Reymart Gaballo.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight titlist, who joined Richard Schaefer’s Probellum earlier this week, was last month ordered by the WBC to make a mandatory defence against Gaballo.
“We are finalising the negotiations. December 11, I think, is what they are saying, but all of it has to be finalised and signed,” the four-division world champion said on ABS-CBN News.
Donaire Jr, who won the WBC belt when he stopped Frenchman Nordine Oubaali in May, is aware that 25-year-old Gaballo is gunning for his crown.
“I really respect the kid. He’s going to do his best, but I’m always going to be ready for it,” the 38-year-old Donaire Jr said.
