World title hopeful Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga’s trainer and father Thembani Gopheni has said that they will be displaying the lnternational Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight belt for all to see when they have a Christmas lunch this year.
Gopheni said this after Team Nontshinga agreed terms to challenge IBF junior-flyweight titlist Felix Alvarado from Nicaragua.
“It’s a done deal as we have agreed in everything. However, we don’t have a date yet even though we have been told that the fight is going to be held in California in the United States. What I can say is that we will have the belt with us by the time we eat our Christmas lunch,” Gopheni said.
Nontshinga earned the right to challenge the Nicaraguan after he outpointed Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta from the Philippines in Gqeberha in April this year.
The 22-year-old Nontshinga will attempt to do what his compatriot DeeJay Kriel failed to do as he was stopped by Alvarado earlier this year.
