Ubuntu Boxing Fraternity (UBF) is spearheading a campaign to help renovate the home of deceased boxing icon Nkosana ‘Happyboy’ Mgxaji in Mdantsane.
And UBF will on Tuesday launch the first phase of the renovations of Mgxaji’s home at Mdantsane’s NU 3.
The iconic Mgxaji, a former South African junior-lightweight and junior-welterweight champion, passed away in January 2011 aged 61.
In a professional career, which started in 1969 and came to an end in 1985, Mgxaji clocked 102 fights chalking up 89 victories with 27 knockouts, nine losses and three draws.
Tuesday’s event is expected to be attended by former boxers, current boxers, former champions, current champions, amateurs, fight officials, boxing lovers, trainers, managers, promoters and the Mdantsane community.
