Sabelo Ngebiyana has changed his mind about moving up to the junior-featherweight division because he still dreams of challenging current International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-bantamweight champion Gideon Buthelezi.
Ngebiyana announced early last month that he had decided to move up two divisions from junior-bantamweight to junior-featherweight, but he has since reconsidered that decision.
“I’m still looking at winning the IBO junior-bantamweight title before I move up,” the 30-year-old Ngebiyana said.
But Ngebiyana’s fight against Buthelezi is still just a dream at the moment as he is scheduled for a rematch against Ricardo Malajika in a 10-round bout on 11 December. Ngebiyana defeated Malajika via a split decision when they met at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park in March this year.
“l’m going to fight against Malajika in a 10-round bout in December,” Komani-born Ngebiyana, who lost to Armenian boxer Narek Abgaryan in Russia two months ago, said.
