Swallows FC coach Brandon Truter has welcomed a point the Dube Birds earned when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Stellenbosch FC in a DStv Premiership match at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday.

The Birds had gone through some painful moments where they conceded seven goals and scored none in their last two matches before meeting Stellies. Truter was even given a ‘special leave’ by the club bosses.

“I’m a bit disappointed. We scored first and then conceded in a crucial period. It’s the time when you know not to concede. The focus and concentration should be up,” Truter remarked.

Mitchell’s Plain-born Truter is, however, positive about the team’s fortunes going forward now that they managed to score a goal.

“It’s work in progress considering where we came from. It’s a point after a while, it’s something to build on. I felt we were a bit nervous in certain stages. I think we were a bit more concerned about not losing,” Truter said.

Meanwhile, Stellies coach Steve Barker admitted that they didn’t create enough chances during the match.

“I think we played the same sort of shape and we didn’t really create enough opportunities. I think a point is a fair reflection,” Barker said.
