Filipino boxer Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta stopped his compatriot Arnold Garde in the first round at the IPI Compound in Mandaue City, Cebu, in the Philippines on Friday.
This is Araneta’s second win since losing to unbeaten East London boxer Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout in Gqeberha in April.
The 26-year-old Araneta stopped his countryman Richard Claveras in July. Following Friday’s win, Araneta has improved his record to 21 wins with 17 knockouts and two defeats while Garde has a professional record of 10 victories with four stoppages, 11 losses and three draws. Garde has been stopped eight times.
Meanwhile, Tomjune Mangubat scored a seventh round stoppage win over Allan Villanueva in the other bout.
