Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe is going to leave South Africa for Gaborone, Botswana, on Thursday morning, hoping to continue with her winning streak.
The current South African female flyweight champion is set to face Patience Mastara from Harare in Zimbabwe in an eight-round bout at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) in Botswana on Friday.
Hadebe is on a five-fight winning streak and her last loss was against Russian Sofia Abraamyan in February 2019.
“We are going to leave for Botswana on Thursday,” the 27-year-old Hadebe confirmed.
Initially, Hadebe was scheduled to face Revai Madondo from Zimbabwe. But Madondo pulled out of the fight forcing tournament organisers to secure Mastara as Hadebe’s opponent.
Hadebe will be fighting for the fourth time this year while it’s Mastara’s second fight. Hadebe defeated former SA bantamweight female champion Melissa Miller in March, then went on to beat Thema Zuma twice – in a non-title bout in August and in an SA title fight last month.
On the other hand, the 32-year-old Mastara drew with her compatriot Kudakwashe Chiwandire in May this year.
