Love, passion, dedication and commitment are the key ingredients, which TLB Boxing Promotions boss Joyce Kungwane uses in her recipe for success.

Kungwane, who is the most active promoter this year, has lined up two tournaments in two provinces in a space of 13 days.

In one of her tournaments, Kungwane has scored a major coup having former world champions fighting in the same bill.

Erstwhile International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight champion Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete and former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight titlist Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni are going to face Filipino opponents Jelbirt Gomera and Sonny Katiandagho respectively at the Emnotweni Casino in Nelspruit on Saturday, 11 December.

“All that I know is that I put an effort in whatever I do as a person. I believe in doing or giving out the best,” Kungwane said.

“I don’t do things just for the sake of doing them. I put love and passion in whatever I do. Dedication and commitment are very important. It’s not only about putting money into the pocket, it’s about retaining the brand.”

Having staged three tournaments so far this year, Kungwane has met and overcame some challenges, especially those that are related to funding.

Kungwane is now preparing for her tournament, which is set for Vodaworld in Midrand, on Sunday, 28 November.

The tournament is headlined by a vacant South African junior-bantamweight title fight between Athenkosi Dumezweni and Lindile Tshemese.

This is the same tournament where former IBO welterweight champion Tsiko Mulovhedzi will make a comeback against Onke Duku. This is Mulovhedzi’s first since July 2019.

“I’m very happy that I will do the two tournaments. This means that I will have done five tournaments this year. These are not just bills, they are bills in the true sense of the word,” she said.
