Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has admitted that LPRC Oilers were not an easy team despite the Buccaneers beating them 2-0 in a CAF Confederation Cup first leg preliminary match at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia, on Sunday evening.
The Soweto giants shot to victory through goals from Tshegofatso Mabasa and Fortune Makaringe.
“Not an easy match. The conditions were not what we are used to, very hot. The field was a bit smaller to what we are used to. A bit bumpy,” Ncikazi said.
The former Lamontville Golden Arrows coach insisted that Pirates are not going to relax in the second leg.
“It was important that we scored. We could have scored more. There’s a two-goal difference. We are not going to take it for granted when we play the second leg,” he said.
“A very good side, they have very good players. We’ll always be mindful and watchful when they come to South Africa. Anything can still be possible. But at least we have given ourselves an advantage.”
The Buccaneers are going to welcome the Liberians in the second leg at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto next weekend.
