One of the most knowledgeable footbalI admistrators and former Moroka Swallows director Godfrey Gxowa has passed away.
Gxowa whose involvement with Swallows started in 1951 was a footbalI encyclopaedia having been around since the days of the South African Soccer League (SASL) National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) and the National Soccer League (NSL).
“The late Godfrey Gxowa’s knowledge of the evolution of professional football in our country was unparalleled. We extend our condolences to the Gxowa family for the loss of the partriarch of the family,” a statement from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) said on Monday.
The relegation of Swallows to the amateur ranks more than four seasons ago pained Gxowa, who loved the team with all his heart.
