South African champion Phila Mpontshane’s preparations for his upcoming title defence against Sibusiso Zingange are going well in Johannesburg.
Mpontshane, who faces Zingange in his fifth defence of the SA junior-lightweight title at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday, had an opportunity to spar with Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni.
The 31-year-old Mpontshane also received visits from International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-featherweight champion Ludumo Lamati, former IBO welterweight titlist Thulani Mbenge and Simphiwe Konkco, the erstwhile IBO minimumweight title holder, who came to encourage him.
Meanwhile, Ndongeni is preparing for his fight against Israel ‘Money Machine’ Kam’mwamba from Malawi. The fight is going to be held at the Ingwenyama Lodge in White River on Saturday.
