The thought of having another fight in March next year is serving as a motivating factor to Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete ahead of his collission with Iddi Mustafa Ally Said from Tanzania on Sunday.

Tete is going to shake off ring rust and go toe-to-toe with Said in an international 10 rounder at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg. The 33-year-old Tete has not fought since he lost his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight title to Filipino boxer Johnriel Casimero in November 2019.

“We have had great sessions preparing for this fight. I’m very happy that I’m going to fight again. The feeling of being inside the ring and fight again has been revived,” Mdantsane-born Tete said.

The former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and WBO bantamweight titlist has been promised a fight against Commonwealth junior-featherweight Jason Cunningham from Yorkshire should he beat Said.

“The promise of a fight early next year is one of the good things about Sunday’s bout. It’s a motivation on its own, especially now that I won’t stay long and will get to fight again,” Tete said.

Tete is going to be ushered into war by former SANABO president Andile Mofu together with Makazole Tete and Thulasizwe Sifatyi, the conditioning and strength coach.
