Rulani Mokwena was visibly unhappy despite his team Mamelodi Sundowns bagging three points following a 3-2 win over Royal AM in a DStv Premiership match at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Wednesday.

It seems conceding two late goals was the source of the Sundowns co-coach’s unhappiness.

“We won, we move on. The less I say, the better. We also didn’t do our part as coaches. I think we didn’t prepare the team very well. You could see with the performance, we struggled a little bit,” Mokwena said.

Mokwena added that he loved what he saw from Royal AM as they fought back from 3-0 down to scare the Brazilians.

“Good fight, I like Royal AM, I like the coaches. Coach John Maduka is doing well, congratulations to then for fighting from 3-0 down,” he said.

The Tshwane giants remain the only unbeaten side having won 10 matches and drawn four.

Meanwhile, Royal AM coach John Maduka admitted that they were slow off the mark thus they conceded an early goal in the sixth minute of the match.

“Started slowly again, conceded a goal. After that that’s when we started to play. We created so many chances in the first half,” Maduka remarked.

“I think first half we were supposed to get something. If you don’t score goals, you can’t win matches, especially when you play Sundowns. Second half, we started slowly, we conceded goals that were not there. From 3-0 it’s not easy, Sundowns are a good team, they wait for you and they pounce.”
