Former world champion Lusanda ‘Mexican’ Komanisi gets a chance to endear himself to East London boxing fans once again.

Mdantsane-born Komanisi, a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion, makes a return to East London’s Orient Theatre with a clash against Kabelo Bikitsha in a World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African lightweight title fight on Saturday afternoon.

The 32-year-old Komanisi has had a love-hate relationship with East London boxing followers and will be hoping for a warm welcome on Saturday.

Komanisi’s last two fights – wins over Sivenathi Qampi and Sinethemba Bam – were held in East London, but supporters were barred from attending tournaments because of COVID-19. Boxing followers will, however, be in attendance this time around.

Meanwhile, former world title hopeful Khanyile Bulana will fight for the first time since losing to Italian Michael Magnesi in April.

Bulana, who faces Mfusi Maxhayi in a six-round bout, was stopped by Magnesi in the first round during an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight title fight in Italy.

Xolisile Voyi v Sikho Moshani

Junior-flyweight:
