Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids is proud of his players after they came from behind to beat AmaZulu 2-1 in a DStv Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Thursday evening.

This was the second successive match where the Buccaneers came from behind and won through Kwame Peprah’s brace. They did the same against Marumo Gallants on Monday.

“Really proud of the players. It’s been a tough game. Togetherness and fighting spirit really came through,” Davids said.

The Buccaneers now occupy second spot on the Premiership standings with 30 points – 14 behind log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We reached the 30-point mark. I think it’s four games late. We know it’s work in progress in terms of progression of our team,” the former Maritzburg United coach remarked.

Meanwhile, Usuthu coach Benni McCarthy admitted that it was not a good day for his team.

“Not the happiest return. First half, started like a house on fire. Fatigue started to kick in, Pirates put in numbers, stringing passes together and you know they have a lot of movement,” McCarthy said.
