The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon opened the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals with a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde on Sunday evening.
Indomitable Lions captain Vincent Aboubakar scored two penalties in the 40th minute and on the stroke of half-time.
The first penalty came after Bertrand Traore had fouled Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa inside the box. The Indomitable Lions got a second penalty following a foul on Nouhou Tolo by Issoufou Dayo.
Aboubakar’s brace came after Gustavo Sangare had given the Stallions the lead in the 24th minute off a Traore cross.
Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions have won 10 of their opening AFCON matches while the Stallions are yet to win an opener.
